Stocking to
Knee |
-
Zippers
are optional for lower
extremity garments
-
If
donning the garment over
the foot is particularly
difficult for the
patient, a heel insert or
a full-length insert
panel along the side of
one or both legs may be
used instead of a zipper.

- Important!
- Custom-made
pressure garments provide
the constant, even
pressure to aid
in scar management and graduated
pressure to aid in edema and lymphedema
management. To be
effective, burn garments
should be worn 24 hours a
day, every day, until the
scar tissue is mature,
usually 9-14 months post-burn, while
most lymphedema garments are worn for
about 12 hours a day. A burn pressure
garment maintains
effective pressure for
2-3 months and then must
be replaced, while 4-8 months is
realistic for lymphedema garments. Alternating
between several garments
will aid in lengthening
the life of the garments,
although, in some cases
of weight change, or
spurts of rapid growth in
children, more frequent
re-measurement and
replacement may be
necessary.
